The City of Portales and the Department of Transportation provide public transportation services within a five (5) mile radius of the Portales City limits. These services, called Portales Area Transit System (PATS) are for the general public at a nominal cost of .75 cents per ride. You can also purchase a ticket of 10 rides for $5.00.

PATS currently request a one day advance notice and operates Monday through Friday 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. PATS provides transportation services to worksites, childcare facilities, medical appointments, shopping trips and rides for University students.

How to Get a Ride

Call the PATS Dispatcher based at the Portales Senior Center 356-8741
Fares will be collected by the driver at the time the services are provided. Fares are $.75 cents per ride or $.50 per ride if you purchase a ticket from the Portales Senior Center, 421 N. Industrial Drive or from a driver.
Special attention is paid to passenger safety belts and tie downs.
Drivers must, at all times, take safety precautions and obey all traffic laws.

PATS is provided as a service to our citizens in partnership by the City of Portales and the Department of Transportation.
