Employees who are required to possess a commercial drivers license

and controlled substance testing which include pre-employment, post
accident, reasonable suspicion, follow-up and random testing. Applicants

POLICE OFFICER
Applications are now being accepted by the City of
Portales Police Department. This position requires a person be able to perform general police work, enforcing state and local laws. Applicants must be able to perform certain physical activities. Applicant must be 18 years of age, high school graduate, or equivalent: pass a written, oral, and background check. Physical agility course may be waived for certified applicants. Department offers a 4-day work week, take home car, all uniforms, incentive pay for education, training, bilingual in Spanish and prior years of service, college tuition assistance, step pay plan, PERA, medical/life insurance.
