APPLICANTS WILL BE REQUIRED TO PASS A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE TEST IF A CONDITIONAL OFFER OF EMPLOYMENT IS MADE.
Applicants may be subject to a criminal history background and reference check. Upon conditional offer of employment a drug screen, agility test, psychological evaluation and medical screening may be conducted. Employees who are required to possess a commercial drivers license (CDL) and various Non-CDL drivers are required to undergo alcohol and controlled substance testing which include pre-employment, post accident, reasonable suspicion, follow-up and random testing. POLICE OFFICER
Applications are now being accepted by the City of Portales Police Department.  This position requires a person be able to perform general police work, enforcing state and local laws.  Applicants must be able to perform certain physical activities.  Applicant must be 18 years of age, high school graduate, or equivalent:  pass a written, oral, and background check.  Physical agility course may be waived for certified applicants.  Department offers a 4-day work week, take home car, all uniforms, incentive pay for education, training, bilingual in Spanish and prior years of service, college tuition assistance, step pay plan, PERA, medical/life insurance.  City is an EOE.  Application and Job Description available at the City Hall, 100 West 1st St., Portales, NM  88130, or by calling 575-356-6662 ext. 22.  Position open until filled.
