City Council Declares Summer 2007
"Water-wise Summer"
In an effort to conserve a limited water supply, the
Portales City Council declared, in their meeting on December 19,
2006, summer 2007 to be a “water-wise summer.” Average
water usage by Portales residents in the summers of 2005 and 2006
was 53,293,000 gallons of water per month between May and August.
The Council has set a goal of saving 2,664,500 gallons (5 percent)
per month during the months of May through August next year.

in the home and outdoors is available at City Hall, 100 West First
Street.
