Recreation Membership
There is an annual membership cost of $5 per individual for persons
age 5 to adult. Membership cards will be issued to all members.
Everyone that participates in Recreation Center programs and activities
must be a member and have signed both a Recreation Activity Waiver
& Release Agreement and a Rules and Regulations Agreement. Both
agreements must be on file in the director’s office. For members
under the age of 18 the activity waiver and rules/regulations agreements
must be signed by a parent or guardian.
Children under the age of 12 will not be allowed on the premises unless apparent or legal guardian has registered and signed a waiver of liability for said child. The Portales Recreation Center does not offer day care or baby sitting services and parent(s) or legal guardian(s) will be responsible for all children under the age of eighteen (18) while they are at the Rec Center or on the Rec Center premises.
No smoking allowed inside or outside of the Rec Center.
No drugs or alcohol allowed inside or outside of the Rec Center.
No vulgar language or obscene gestures allowed.
No sitting, laying, standing or otherwise abusing the recreation equipment i.e. pool and air hockey tables, etc.
No hanging from the rim of the basketball goals allowed.
No boom boxes, radios, tape players or CD players of any kind allowed.
No weapons i.e. knives, guns, bats, etc. allowed.
No fighting or horseplay allowed inside or outside of the Rec Center.
No verbal or physical abuse of any kind, type or manner is allowed.
No loitering or hanging around outside of the Rec Center or in the parking lot.
No food or beverages allowed outside the designated lounge area.
No gum or sunflower seeds are allowed anywhere on the property.
No gang attire can be worn or otherwise allowed in the premises and no gang signing allowed.
No use of the phones except for emergency (ies) is allowed.
No gambling, betting or wagering is allowed.
Appropriate attire must be worn at all times.
All accidents and/or damage to equipment must be immediately reported to a staff member.
Violation of these rules will result in a loss of your right to use the Portales Recreation Center. A first violation of any rule will result in a verbal warning to the participant which will be noted on the participant’s registration form. A second violation will result in written notification which will be shared with the participant’s parents and/or legal guardian. A third violation of any rule will result in a mandatory six month expulsion from the Recreation Center.
Portales Recreation Center (PRC) does not have the services and/or ability to watch, monitor and/or supervise children eight (8) and younger. Children 8 years and younger can only be on the Portales Recreation Center property if they are with their parents or other guardian over the age of eighteen (18) years. The exception would be when parents drop their child 8 years of age or younger at a scheduled activity. The PRC and the City of Portales accept no responsibility for the care, supervision and/or control of any child (8) years of age or younger on the PRC property.
