Portales welcomes you to enjoy our mild climate and beautiful, sunny skies in the eight City Parks, providing over 270 acres of outdoor recreation. Some of the amenities provided are: playground equipment, jogging and walking trails, model airplane runway, skate park and picnic areas. Enjoy the newly renovated City Pool,open seven days each week beginning in late spring and throughout the summer months.
Portales Recreation Center provides daily activities for the entire family including a safe and fun-filled after school recreational program for youth ages 6 - 18.
Throughout the year there are many opportunities to participate in League Sports including football, volleyball, basketball, baseball, softball and soccer. Portales boasts ten ball fields for year-round fun.
The vision of the Portales Recreation Board is to provide safe and fun recreational programs and facilities supported by the Portales citizens; partnering with local organizations, ENMU and Portales businesses to improve city parks and facilities including new playground equipment and recreation programs that encourage leisure and competitive recreation for all ages.
