The Portales Police Department is a full-service and community oriented law enforcement agency. The department is housed with the Roosevelt County Sheriff's office at the Roosevelt County Law Enforcement Complex located at 1700 N. Boston St. The Portales Police Department was the first Department in the State of New Mexico to become accredited through the New Mexico Law Enforcement Professional Standards Council. The Portales Police Department is proud of this accomplishment and is committed to maintaining a department that is progressive, professional, and cares about the Community it serves. The department employs 40 dedicated people that provide services in Police Patrol, Criminal Investigations, 911 Communications, Animal Control, Code Enforcement and Records.
