Portales Police Department Investigations Division
The Investigation Division of the Portales Police Department consists of a Captain, Sergeant and two Investigators and the School Resource Officer.
Lonnie Berry is the Captain of the Investigation Division. Lonnie has approximately 20 years experience in law enforcement. Lonnie was instrumental in forming the Oasis Program for abused children. The Oasis is a “safe house” setting where abused children can be interviewed with a minimal amount of further trauma.
Preston Wilkerson is the Sergeant of the Investigation Division. Preston has approximately 25 years experience in law enforcement. He oversees the two Investigators and School Resource Officer Kendall Richardson. Preston has had training in several areas of law enforcement. He mainly works narcotics and is a member of the Roosevelt County Joint Task Force. Preston has been assigned to the Investigation Division for approximately seven years.
Todd Moore is one of the Investigators with the Portales Police Department. Todd has approximately 10 years with the Portales Police. He also has four years experience with the Security Police in the Air Force. Todd has had training in Crimes against Children and other areas involving children. Todd also works most of our property crimes. Todd has been assigned to the Investigation Division for approximately 3½ years.
Johnny Parker is the other Investigator with the Portales Police Department. Johnny has approximately 22 years experience in law enforcement. Johnny has had training in handwriting comparison. He works most of the forgeries that are reported to the police department. Johnny has been assigned to the Investigation Division for approximately two years.
The Portales Police Department Investigation Division works many and various crimes that are committed in the City of Portales. The division not only works the major crimes but any crime where we are needed, be it a major accident with injuries or a simple shoplifting crime.
