Portales Police Department Support Services
Records Division
The Records Division of the Portales Police Department is open Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The Records Division performs the following services for the public:
- Fingerprint Cards— these cards are for employment or required background checks. Persons needing to be fingerprinted must bring their own cards obtained from their potential employer. The cost of fingerprinting is $2 per card.
Persons wanting their young children fingerprinted for identification purposes, may bring their child to the Department. The child will be fingerprinted and the card given to the parents. This service is provided free of charge.
- Background Checks—The Records Division will provide persons with a local background check. This will entail a search of any outstanding warrants and arrests. There is a $2.00 charge per background check for this service.
- Police Incident and Accident Reports—Copies of Accident reports and Incident reports may be obtained from the Records Division. The cost of this is $3.00 per report.
In addition, the Records Division also keeps crime statistics and is responsible for maintains the Uniform Crime Report system.

Administrative Services
The Administrative Division is responsible for the processing of applications for employment, purchasing, payroll, and other administrative duties.
Dana Pergeson is the Administrative Assistant for the Department and also acts as personal secretary to the Chief and Deputy Chief.
